This is a little journal to keep anyone - particularly me - posted on my terribly rambling film and journalism career

New Film Threat piece up
In my ongoing responsibility to expose the filthy underbelly of fandom, I give you this piece about Flashback and Twisted Nightmare Weekends. In other news, Genghis Con Pa is still rolling along. Check out the brand-new updated site.

As for Chicago, it didn't help that the Nationals for Sports Collectibles was the same weekend and right across the street from Flashback. We only came down for the day due to work, so I was on around 2 hrs of sleep if that after working. We couldn't leave until 8:30 because I had to run to the bank and get some cash and change for the tolls. Well, 8:30 was the plan, but it ended up being 9:30, because El Superbeasto wasn't even awake yet. Traffic was a pain, but coming from Wisconsin was different than coming from PA, due to the fact, you probably had to drive through more of the city to get to the convention. I can't tell you how many times we got lost, well, I got lost. :( I personally passed on the Bruce signing, due to the fact I really didn't want a signed book. Kind of glad I did, because all he signed was a "B" and that's it. He did make it upstairs for the Q&A. Being my first convention, I really didn't know what to expect. I kind of thought it (Dealer room) might have been bigger due to the list of celebs and dealers. Also the food court sucked! Damn, what a rip off, we would have been better off waiting and ordering a full pizza from Pizza Hut. Anyways, it was interesting and fun. On the trip home, we got lost again and ended up stopping for directions. We stopped at a gas station, and asked the worker how to get back on the interstate and he didn't understand, so we were like Shit! We didn't think he understood english, but we rephrased the question and he was able to help us out. Thank God! Anyways, driving back home, El Superbeasto not once, but twice pissed in an Aquafina bottle in my car. :( No I wasn't happy and Amy kept trying to get a picture of my "Unhappy reaction" We ended up stopping in Rockford, IL at Ruby Tuesdays and ate. El Superbeasto once again had to go, but this time used their restroom. Freaking meal came up to like $40 something for the three of us and that was with only one drink. I should have gotten some alcohol after this road trip. They were going to be cheap and not tip, but I refused to follow suit, because there was no reason not to. I'm sorry, but bad service is one thing (I'd still probably tip small), but when you get everything you ordered and the service was fine, you should tip. So I ended up leaving a $10 tip, which I ended up taking some shit from T and A for leaving it. Got back in the car and T aka El Superbeasto left the pee filled bottle in the parking lot and we went home. I got home and started watching The Resurrection Game. The End.
As for TWN, I would have liked to have went, last year and this year, but things came up. Last year was a late decision and plans fell through, so I ended up going to a Abandonded Mental Hospital which ended up being pretty cool. This year, Flashback and vacation time took away from TWN.
